CONMEBOL have announced they’ve decided to postpone the 2022 World Cup qualifiers that were planned for later this month, as several clubs had threatened to withhold players.

The games would’ve been a logistical nightmare for those playing in Europe, because many would’ve faced not only long journeys across the world, but then having to self-isolate on arrival and upon their return due to COVID restrictions.

Quite a few big clubs had threatened to withhold players from international duty because of these issues.

Following a FIFA request, CONMEBOL announced they have decided to suspend the upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

FIFA will analyse the fixture list and co-ordinate with CONMEBOL to re-organise those games.
