Massimiliano Allegri failed to find the answers in Juventus’ Coppa Italia semi-final loss to Inter, disappointing the Italian press.
The Bianconeri failed to show much of note in their miserable 1-0 loss to the Nerazzurri, eliminating them 2-1 on aggregate at the penultimate stage of the cup. The Coppa Italia represented some level of redemption for Juventus after their difficult season, but now they can only hope to find a piece of this in the Europa League.
Pressure has been high on Allegri for the majority of this season and Juventus’ cup defeat to Inter only raises this further, creating serious doubts about the Italian tactician’s future in Turin.
La Gazzetta dello Sport highlighted how Allegri’s tactics produced little of note at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, noting: “Team without grit and ideas and Max put his own spin on it. He started with a 3-5-1-1 without a centre forward, then switched to 4-2-3-1 with Milik and took off the only one who crossed. Mah…”
Corriere dello Sport were equally disappointed with Allegri’s decisions, feeling that Juventus were deserved losers of the match, commenting: “Completely lost a half, due to a confused and reluctant tactical approach. They changed at half-time, but never managed to take the game into their own hands. Deserved defeat.”
Juventus have lost their last three Serie A outings and will be desperate to bounce back against Bologna on April 30.
