Confirmed: Serie A 19-20 referees

The referees for the 2019-20 Serie A campaign are confirmed, with Luca Banti and Paolo Mazzoleni dropped due to their age.

Banti [pictured] and Mazzoleni have reached the end of their officiating careers in Italy as both men turned 45 last season.

The former was criticised for his performance during May’s Coppa Italia Final between Atalanta and Lazio.

The former was criticised for his performance during May’s Coppa Italia Final between Atalanta and Lazio.

The latter, meanwhile, controversially sent off Kalidou Koulibaly when Napoli lost 1-0 to Inter on Boxing Day after he had suffered racial abuse.

They have been replaced by Antonio Giua and Marco Piccinini, who were eased into the top flight during the previous campaign.
