La Gazzetta dello Sport confirms Mike Maignan will likely miss next week’s Champions League meeting between Milan and Tottenham at San Siro.

Tuttosport newspaper claimed last week that the France international was still recovering from a calf injury and would not recover in time for the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 against Antonio Conte’s Tottenham on February 14.

Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport confirms Maignan is still not fully fit, adding that it’s highly unlikely that the ex-Lille goalkeeper will be between the sticks for the Rossoneri in their match with Spurs next week.

According to the report, Maignan’s return to action has been further delayed with the goalkeeper who could even return in March. Therefore, Stefano Pioli hopes the 27-year-old will be available for the decider in North London on March 8, but the club hasn’t set an official date for his comeback.

Maignan has been temporarily dropped from Milan’s Champions League squad but can be re-introduced 24 hours before a game.

He’s been out of action since September when he suffered a calf injury while on international duty with France. He sustained a new injury to the soleus muscle one month later, forcing him to miss the World Cup in Qatar.
