Davide Astori’s autopsy has confirmed that the former Fiorentina captain died of cardiac arrest, as first suspected.
According to reports in the Italian Press, the post-mortem discovered there was “no particular motivation” for Astori’s “sudden and unexpected” death.
It is explained that the ex-Cagliari defender’s heart “progressively slowed down, until finally stopping.”
His body is now being prepared for Thursday’s funeral, which will be held at the Basilica di Santa Croce in Florence.
