Vincenzo Italiano’s Fiorentina took an early 1-0 lead in the first leg in Florence but failed to build upon this and allowed Basel the net an equaliser in the 71st minute. Things went from bad to worse in the dying minutes of the match, when Zeki Amdouni scored a late winner for the Swiss side.
FC Basel duo Arnau Comas and Sergio Lopez are both sidelined with injuries and will not take part in the European semi-final.
Fiorentina cannot rely on Salvatore Sirigu, who is out injured, and Riccardo Sottil is also in doubt due to muscle issues.
