Renato Sanches seemed destined to join Milan this summer before Paris Saint-Germain swooped in, and the difference can really be seen in their contract offers.

Recent reports suggest that the Rossoneri will lose out on the 24-year-old Portuguese midfielder as they’re refusing to match Lille’s €30m asking price, offering only €10m plus €5m in add-ons. Paris Saint-Germain, in comparison, are offering a flat €20m fee, significantly more attractive for the French side.

As underlined by Nicolo Schira, there is also a clear difference in the contracts offered to Sanches by the two interested clubs. Milan’s offer was a four-year deal worth €3.5m net per season plus €1m in add-ons, whilst PSG proposed a five-year deal worth €5m net per season plus add-ons.

Losing out on the Portuguese midfielder is a serious blow to Paolo Maldini and the Rossoneri, forcing them to scramble for a new option as the transfer window rapidly approaches.
