Simone Inzaghi has had a better first half of the season compared to his predecessor Antonio Conte last campaign.

The 45-year-old Italian, who replaced Conte at the end of last season, has impressed in Milan and proven that he was the right man to take on the job following the departure of the former Juventus and Italy coach.

In Inzaghi’s first 18 games of the season, Inter have picked up 43 points and sit top of the Serie A table. The Milanese side have also qualified to the Round of 16 of the Champions League.

In comparison, Conte’s first 19 games of last season saw them pick up 41 points, sitting second in the table and out of the Champions League. Considering the Nerazzurri’s Scudetto success last season, this is a great sign for Inter fans.

Inter have scored 48 goals this campaign after 18 games compared to 45 goals scored after 19 games under Conte last season, with last night’s 5-0 win over Salernitana emblematic of their strong start.

  1. Even as Milan fan I have to tip my hat to Inter. They’re doing really well with a good style of play…so far on track with top of table, CL progress thus far.

Not an easy task when losing such important pieces of the puzzle and acting with such conviction and intelligence on the market.

Excellent reconstruction work done after the manager/player departures and replacing with Inzaghi, Dzeko, Tucu, Dumfries, Hakan, etc. Top marks by Marotta, Ausilio, Baccin and co.

Hopefully we’ll be battling all the way into May.
