Newly-promoted Como will play the first Serie A home games of next season at Verona’s Stadio Bentegodi while the Sinigaglia undergoes restructuring work.

Como finished second in the Serie B table behind Parma and secured their return to the top flight of Italian football.

However, they will not be able to welcome visiting teams to their home town for at least the first few weeks of the 2024-25 campaign.

This is because the Stadio Sinigaglia currently holds only 7,500 people and the minimum capacity for a Serie A club is 12,000.

Even when the work has been completed, it will only expand the capacity to 10,000, but the Lega Serie A will allow special dispensation to host their games once that is done.

Como hosted by Verona

In the meantime, they have been given permission to play their home games at the Stadio Bentegodi in Verona.

They needed permission from the local authorities in Verona before giving the all-clear to this move.

It is quite a trek, as Como is in the Lombardy region and Verona in Veneto, which tends to be a two-hour drive over 155-200km.

  1. No disrespect etc but what is a team with a 7000 capacity stadium doing in Serie A? The number of teams needs to be reduced to 18. And invest more in the Serie B infrastructure,
