Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso gave an update on negotiations to extend Dusan Vlahovic’s contract. ‘I won’t make promises I am not certain that I can keep.’
The striker is currently under contract at the Stadio Artemio Franchi until June 2023, but the talks have been going for months to sign him to a new and improved deal.
It should also include a potential release clause worth in the region of €70m, the figure that Fiorentina reportedly rejected over the summer from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid.
Commisso was at an event this evening and spoke to reporters from Calciomercato.com when asked about the Vlahovic situation.
“He’s a good lad, he is good for Florence. I hope he will stay for a long time,” said the President.
“Will he sign the new contract? I won’t make promises I am not certain that I can keep.”
Vlahovic is only 21 years old, but he already has five goals in four competitive matches for Fiorentina this season, so three in Serie A and two in the Coppa Italia.
Last term, he found the net 21 times in 37 Serie A appearances.

The kid’s gone. Would love for him to stay and push Fiorentina into a top 5 contender, but barring a miracle, Commisso has a snowball’s chance in hell in having him much longer. Altuism and loyalty are anathema in sports now.
