Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso celebrates Conference League qualification and warns ‘there are many negotiations in progress’ for Sofyan Amrabat as Fulham join Manchester United, Galatasaray and more.

The Viola overturned the 1-0 first leg defeat to Rapid Vienna this evening thanks to a 2-0 victory sealed by the Nico Gonzalez brace to book their spot in tomorrow’s Conference League group phase draw.

“The lads had a great game, they gave it their all. That penalty awarded to them last week was fine, this penalty we received was fine, so we didn’t steal anything,” Commisso told Sky Sport Italia.

“It is very important for us, we had good rewards from the Conference League last season. That was wonderful, we are very, very happy for the fans, the players, the coach and everyone.”

However, President Commisso took time to defend coach Vincenzo Italiano, who was criticised after a 2-2 Serie A draw with Lecce last week.

“There is a stupid fan who sat near to Italiano, and I hope the Fiorentina fans understand this, it is not right to criticise him from start to finish. We must be encouraging.”

Amrabat was left out of the squad because he could leave before the transfer deadline on Friday evening, yet that does not seem to be progressing.

After months of waiting, Manchester United reportedly made an offer only to take him on loan for €2m with an option to buy, which was considered derisory by the Viola.

Commisso was asked specifically if there were talks with Manchester United and Galatasaray.

“There are other clubs for Amrabat too. I cannot give an answer right now, because not even I know what will happen tomorrow. We told Amrabat that if he has an opportunity to leave, then we’ll let him go. If this deal cannot be done, then he has two years left on his contract and will remain.

“There are many negotiations in progress. I don’t want to name names. So wait 24 hours and then you’ll know what happens.”

Meanwhile, tonight Sky Sport Italia report that Fulham are ready to pay close to the €30m asking price for the Morocco international.
