Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso released a statement countering ‘fake news’ that he is in talks with Daniele De Rossi or any other coach for next season.

Sky Sport Italia claimed last night that the Viola have chosen De Rossi to take over from Beppe Iachini next term, giving the former Roma midfielder his first coaching role, while Luciano Spalletti was also mentioned for the job.

“I read and see every day in the media a new coach or new players on their way to Fiorentina,” wrote Commisso in a statement on the club website.

“Up until the other day, everyone assumed we had already made our choice for the new coach, while last night instead there was another choice presented as mine and of the club.

“Since my arrival during the transfer window, I’ve always said that I was stunned by all the Fake News that I read and heard.

“In this period of the season, which is so important and delicate for us, I maintain those who continue to report my choices to replace one person or another is only hurting Fiorentina and its fans.

“I have not had any form of contact, by email, telephone or in person, with anyone. And seeing as everyone knows the final decision is always mind, it’s incredible that they continue to release this fake news.

“Those who don’t want what is best for Fiorentina and its fans are trying to destabilise the club, but we are united and will carry on until the end of the season.

“Then, as I’ve always said, the moment will come when we’ll take everything into account and make our choices for next season, but today we continue only focusing on ending the campaign in the best possible way, by giving our total support to the coach, staff and players.”
