Rocco Commisso is delighted with Fiorentina‘s Coppa Italia Final, the first one in his tenure, but taunts Juventus saying their troubles began ‘when they signed Cristiano Ronaldo.’

The Tuscans have qualified for their first Coppa Italia Finals in nine years after a 0-0 draw against Cremonese at the Stadio Franchi in the semi-final second leg.

They will meet Inter in the Final at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on May 24.

Commisso did not hide his satisfaction during a post-match interview with Mediaset, especially considering that the Tuscans will play their first Final in his presidency.

“We need to focus on one game at a time. I am doing nothing here, only bringing money from America. Hopefully, God will help us, I’ll be here for the Conference League [semi-finals] and then we’ll go to Rome,” he said.

“Italian has been great, he’s doing an extraordinary job and I congratulate him. I’ve always supported him also when he was criticised.

“We played a great game tonight, it wasn’t easy The choreography was spectacular, I want to thank everyone, the coach and the guys who played. I am really happy.”

When asked about his plans and dreams for Fiorentina’s future, Commisso replied: “Revenues are a problem for us, we don’t want to end up like Juventus. Their problems began when they signed Cristiano Ronaldo, this will never happen to Fiorentina, I don’t know where we’ll arrive, but surely we’ll never go bankrupt.”

Fiorentina sit tenth in the Serie A table, ten points below Atalanta in seventh. However, they have qualified for the Conference League semi-finals where they will meet Swiss side Basel.

The Tuscans have won the Coppa Italia six times in history, playing 10 finals.
