Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso believes Dusan Vlahovic’s transfer was a better deal for Fiorentina than Juventus: ‘Arthur Cabral and Luka Jovic have scored more goals.’

The Viola chief explained why he was so satisfied with the deal after giving a talk as part of the Faculty of Economics ‘History of entrepreneurial excellence’ lecture in Florence on Thursday.

“We paid Cabral and Jovic €15m combined and they have already scored 20 goals in the three competitions we play in. Vlahovic on the other hand has scored 10 goals in Turin, two of which were penalties,” Commisso proclaimed.

“He has exactly half [the number of goals] of our two forwards. And amidst all of this, we earned €70m.

“The Cabral-Jovic deal was excellent for us, unlike the Juventus deal for Vlahovic.”

Commisso continued by explaining that the Serbian striker was keen to join the Bianconeri which he did in January 2022 in an €80m deal. The former Fiorentina striker is Juventus’ best scorer this season followed by Arek Milik with eight goals in 23 games.

“Vlahovic wanted to go to Juventus. Many criticised us and the newspapers all wrote: ‘Cabral and Jovic haven’t been scoring recently’ but that wasn’t true,” continued Commisso.

“Outside of Inter and Napoli, Fiorentina are on par with Juventus, Milan and others, but no one has written about it.”

Fiorentina currently find themselves in 12th place in Serie A, 17 points adrift of the top four spots.

Vlahovic has scored 19 goals in 44 appearances in his first year in Turin, where his contract expires in June 2026.
