Who could we see returning to Serie A next season?

Claudio Ranieri

Despite taking Leicester City to the Premier League title last season, Ranieri was sacked by the Foxes in February this year.

With Luciano Spalletti refusing to commit his future to Roma, could the Tinkerman return to the club he supported as a boy?

Davide Ballardini

Ballardini resigned from Palermo in September of last year, having rescued them from relegation in the second of two spells last season.

Largely known as a firefighter, he has had three spells with Cagliari and Palermo and two with Genoa.

As such it’s unlikely that we’ll see him on the bench when Serie A gets underway on August 20, but his spectre will loom large over anyone struggling in the September-October period.

Cesare Prandelli

Once one of the most highly-regarded Coaches on the peninsula, Prandelli’s career has taken a downturn in recent seasons.

After taking Fiorentina into the Champions League Last 16 – and becoming the longest-serving Coach in their history – he took Italy to the Euro 2012 final.

However, a disastrous 2014 World Cup saw Prandelli tender his resignation, and he was subsequently sacked by Galatasaray after just six wins in 16 games.

Having resigned from Valencia this winter after just 10 games, the 59-year-old is in dire need of rebuilding his reputation.

Genoa may not hang on to Ivan Juric beyond this season, while Sassuolo could lose Eusebio Di Francesco. A return to Fiorentina has even been mooted, though his relationship with the Della Valle family makes that unlikely.

Giuseppe Iachini

Iachini actually managed over two years in the Palermo bench, a reign of Sir Alex Ferguson proportions at Renzo Barbera.

He was sacked – twice – by the Rosanero last season, but his reputation had only been bolstered by his time in Sicily.

However, his stock has fallen after a poor start to this season with Udinese. He’ll be looking for a Serie A job, but given his status as a promotion specialist, don’t rule out a return to Palermo…

Serse Cosmi

Ok, it’s been some time since we’ve seen Cosmi on a Serie A bench, but who wouldn’t want to see him patrolling the touchline with his flamboyant dress sense?
