Kingsley Coman has explained why he opted to leave Paris Saint-Germain in favour of a switch to Juventus.

The French teenager moved to the Old Lady on a free transfer after his contract in the capital came to an end.

“PSG have a great squad, but when you are a youngster you kind of get placed to the side,” the 18-year-old told Canal Plus. “I was seen as a good youngster, but not a player like the rest.

“They only showed concern for me when I was leaving and it was a bit late at that stage. Juventus, on the other hand, underlined their interest in me by offering me a five-year deal.”

The Italian champions then confirmed their faith in the attacker by handing him his debut in the Week 1 win at Chievo.

“I didn’t think that I would start the first game, but, thanks to my character, I was able to remain calm,” he explained.

The capture of Coman is regularly compared with Juventus’ swoop for Paul Pogba, another French talent who was netted once his Manchester United deal came to an end.

“If possible, I’d like to achieve even more than what Pogba has done here, but I know that I will need time,” Kingsley added.
