Lorenzo Colombo admits being surprised by Monza’s win over Milan: ‘We still don’t believe it.’

The Italian striker who belongs to Milan but is out on loan at the U-Power Stadium this season, bagged the fourth goal for the Brianzoli on Sunday night, helping them secure a 4-2 victory.

Monza had never beaten a club in the top four before tonight’s fixture.

When asked by DAZN which emotion prevailed after the game, Colombo replied: “I don’t know, maybe surprise. We still don’t believe it. We were two goals up, and they came back, but we managed to accomplish this feat.”

The 21-year-old didn’t celebrate and nearly apologised after scoring against his parent club.

“We wanted a victory against a top club, and it came against Milan, which, of course, means so much to me,” he said.

“It’s my second home, I am looking forward to celebrating with my teammates.”

Colombo ended the interview by saying he dedicated his goal to his girlfriend and family.

The Italian forward has now netted four Serie A goals in 21 appearances in 2023-24. His contract at the Stadio Meazza runs out in June 2024.
