World Cup winner Fulvio Collovati insists ‘there are currently no European nations with a stronger midfield’ than Italy.
They won the two opening Euro 2020 games by 3-0 scorelines against both Turkey and Switzerland.
“At this moment, there are currently no European nations with a stronger midfield than Italy,” 1982 World Cup winning defender Collovati told RAI Sport.
“Nicolò Barella is the best midfielder in Europe. Manuel Locatelli is emerging and everyone wants him on the transfer market, starting with Juventus.
“Then there’s Marco Verratti of PSG, while Jorginho just won the Champions League at Chelsea.
“Maybe the only team that can compete with our midfield is France, who have N’Golo Kanté, Paul Pogba and Adrien Rabiot.”
