Colantuono: ‘Salernitana-Napoli not foregone conclusion’

Stefano Colantuono warns Napoli cannot consider their trip to Salernitana a ‘foregone conclusion,’ nor do the minnows have ‘nothing to lose.’

This is only the third Serie A meeting between these clubs, the first since the 1947-48 campaign.

The Partenopei will travel without Victor Osimhen due to a calf problem, but Colantuono warns Salernitana cannot breathe a sigh of relief.

“The whole Napoli collective deserves consideration, they have won almost every game this season and we cannot make a single mistake,” said the coach in his press conference.

“If you take away Matteo Politano, there’s Hirving Lozano, etc. Nonetheless, I am convinced Salernitana have what it takes to achieve a result.

“We will try to play with our strengths and characteristics, hoping the details can make the difference. We need a series of ingredients and it would be an error to believe the result is a foregone conclusion.

“It is also not true to say Salernitana have nothing to lose. Napoli are joint leaders with Milan, but it is Salernitana’s duty to give it our best.”
