Former Atalanta Coach Stefano Colantuono has been interviewed this morning as part of ongoing match-fixing investigations.

The tactician was replaced on the Orobici bench by Edy Reja earlier this month, and has spoken to prosecutors in Cremona this morning.

Today’s action is part of the ongoing investigation into the calcioscommesse scandal.

It is alleged that Colantuono was aware of a fixed game and failed to report it, with disgraced former midfielder Cristiano Doni stating in a web chat that the Coach was aware of an arrangement for a 2-2 draw between Atalanta and Crotone in April 2011.

“This is a difficult time for me, but now I’m more relaxed,” the 52-year-old told reporters after the interview which lasted around 90 minutes.

“I don’t think I was sacked by Atalanta because of this story, but it’s certainly not pleasant to live in such a situation.”

Colantuono’s lawyers are also confident the Coach will be cleared.

“We are satisfied that the talks with Prosecutor [Roberto] Di Martino have clarified everything,” Mario and Marco De Luca said.

“The involvement of Colantuono is related to a misunderstanding or a brag from Cristiano Doni, in fact we’ve asked that the former Atalanta be called [to testify].

“We believe the case can be closed.”

However, Calciomercato is carrying initial speculation that Colantuono will be called to trial for the alleged offence.
