Former Verona, Genoa and Empoli coach Attilio Perotti is in mourning after his wife was killed in a tragic accident.

The 75-year-old tactician has been essentially retired since leaving Livorno in 2014.

According to Il Secolo XIX newspaper, Perotti’s wife Angela Maria was leaning over the balcony of their fourth-floor apartment in Genoa trying to get a faulty blind to open when she lost her balance and fell.

She was 73 years old.

Hellas Verona released a statement offering their condolences to the coach.

Perotti had been a player, spending time at Casale, Como, Genoa and Parma.

He moved into management with Genoa in 1986, going on to work at Piacenza, Siena, Cesena, Triestina, Andria, Ancona, Verona, Perugia, Reggiana, Ravenna, Bari, Empoli and Livorno.

Perotti had several different spells at Genoa and two at Verona, in 1995-96 and again in 2000-01.
