Clock ticking for Osimhen as Napoli prepare for UCL clash with Milan

Napoli are in a race against time to recover star striker Victor Osimhen ahead of their Champions League quarter-final clash with Milan.

The 24-year-old Nigerian forward has missed the Partenopei’s last two league outings against the Rossoneri and Lecce due to a tear in his adductor muscle, a concerning injury at such a vital stage of the season.

Things went from bad to worse for Napoli as backup striker Giovanni Simeone suffered a knee issue during the win over Lecce, putting him in doubt for the European encounter as well.

Corriere dello Sport highlights how Napoli are now desperate to recover Osimhen in time for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie with Milan, scheduled for April 12.

The Nigerian striker did not train with his teammates today, working individually in the gym, and time is starting to run out as he works on his recovery.

Spalletti underlined the importance of Osimhen when speaking to the media yesterday, noting how “it does become difficult without him, because he has this way of running into space, this physicality, he can draw everyone to him and therefore create the space.”
