There’s still confusion around Rafael Leao and his contract extension with Milan even after a meeting on Tuesday when the lawyer Ted Dimvula insisted that the Rossoneri must negotiate with him and ignore Jorge Mendes.

Leao has a contract expiring in 2024 and Milan have been in talks with his entourage for a long time.

However, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have been confused by the change of interlocutors over the last few months.

According to Calciomercato and Gazzetta, Milan and the player’s father prefer Jorge Mendes, but Ted Dimvula, a French agent and lawyer close to the Leao family informed Milan yesterday that he is the only man in charge of negotiations.

Gazzetta explains that Mendes and Dimvula are not on good terms and often have different views on the future of Leao.

The situation is even trickier because the Portuguese striker has signed an agreement with both agents and the deal with Dimvula expires in June 2024.

According to Gazzetta, it was Leao’s father to suggest to hire Dimvula after a casual meeting in Paris a few years ago. He now wishes that the two parties would work in sync for his son’s good, but Mendes’ legal team has been working on the documents signed by Leao and Dimvula from April to discredit the lawyer.

In the meantime, Milan directors hope to reach an agreement before the beginning of the World Cup, knowing that great performances in Qatar would increase Leao’s salary demands. According to Gazzetta, yesterday’s meeting saw Milan nearing an agreement with Leao, while Sky Sport Italia maintains that negotiations ‘will be tough and lengthy.’

Chelsea, PSG and Manchester City remain interested in the 23-year-old, and the confusion around his contract extension can be helpful to them and harmful to Milan.

  1. A dad thats flaky, multiple agents and issues from former clubs, it might be better to let this guy be someone elses problem. I’m sure Milan can use the cash to find two good wingers to make up for him.

  2. They’re playing games. It’s a ploy to cause confusion and buy time until it’s too late.

    He won’t sign.

  3. I think that they are stalling to see whether or not Mbappe leaves PSG, and is he does, then they will work Leao up for transfer.
