City Group, the holding company that owns a number of football teams including Manchester City, are edging closer to completing their takeover of Palermo.

Gianluca Di Marzio detailed how City Group are continuing their work to buy the Sicilian side and things are progressing well, with a breakthrough being made a few days ago. Things are looking positive and the takeover is expected to be completed at some point in the near future.

City Group sent some emissaries to the Stadio Renzo Barbera tonight to watch Palermo take on Triestina in their Serie C play-off match. Fans are responding well to the reports and they set this season’s third division attendance record at tonight’s game.

The holding company owns a number of football clubs around the world including Manchester City, Melbourne City, Montevideo City Torque, and Troyes. The takeover would be good news for Palermo as it would ensure stability and serious financial backing.
