President Dario Mirri is ready to sell 80% of his shares in Palermo to City Football Group, the company that owns Manchester City and nine other clubs.
The two parties are now in constant talks and work is ongoing to close out a deal soon, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports. Mirri will retain a share and will hold a representative role at the club following the takeover.
City Football Group will pay around €6 million for Palermo and it’s clear that their value will only continue to rise as the years go by. This will likely have important sporting results for the Sicilian side, who are preparing for the Serie B play-offs.
Other clubs that City Football Group own include Australian side Melbourne City, MLS team New York City FC and Uruguayan side Montevideo City Torque.
Palermo fans are now hoping that the club will be given significant investment in a bid to see them return to Serie A.

Shame to see another potential oil club, but Italy can’t improve its own league so it looks like foreigners will have to show them how.
They’ve done it in England and France so not getting why it’s a big deal to you
