Atalanta and Italy Under-21 international defender Giorgio Cittadini is eager to ‘prove what I can do’ after securing a loan move to Serie A side Monza.
The centre-back turned 21 in April and made the move for one season without an option to buy, because La Dea believe in his future.
“It’s very exciting, last season I was in Serie B, now I have a chance to prove what I can do in Serie A, so I am very happy,” declared Cittadini.
Coach Raffaele Palladino was particularly determined to get the player in his squad after seeing him in action on loan at Modena.
“I don’t know if I am ready for Serie A, but I feel that I am and I want to prove to myself that I can do it too. I am throwing myself into this new experience. I look forward to learning new tricks of the trade from my more experienced teammates.”
It won’t quite be a debut, as Cittadini made two extremely brief Serie A appearances for Atalanta in 2022.
