Evelina Christillin, a UEFA member of the FIFA council and well-known Juventus fan, weighed in on the club’s upcoming point deduction and other legal concerns.

The Bianconeri will be handed a new point deduction by the FIGC court today in their third capital gains trial. Their previous 15-point penalty was temporarily annulled by CONI’s Collegio di Garanzia and the new punishment is expected to be slightly lower, but still enough to take them out of the top four race.

Juventus are also facing other concerning legal battles, with the FIGC also looking to punish them for their alleged usage of ‘salary manoeuvres’. The Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office are also heading up the Prisma investigation, which could lead to further punishments as well.

Speaking to Radio Anch’io Lo Sport, Christillin first gave her thoughts on Juventus’ upcoming point deduction and what it’ll mean for the club.

“There is this concept of affliction that only concerns sports justice and not ordinary justice. It will probably be a penalty that will stop the qualification to the Champions League.

“Now let us remember that there are three European cups, but certainly the value in economic terms of going to the Champions League or another cup is significant, it is almost five times as much. We’ll see if it’s 10, 11 or 13 points, for us Juventus fans it’s a big blow.”

Christillin then commented on the possible punishments that could be handed by UEFA as well.

“As soon as the Italian rulings become final, then decisions will also be taken at UEFA. And then there is the second strand of the salary manoeuvre.

“Let’s not forget that relations with UEFA aren’t excellent after the Supe League issue. Juve remain one of the three teams still keeping the project alive.

“Approaching steps have not been seen at the moment.”
