Christensen has played just eight times in the Premier League this season and Di Marzio states Chelsea are open to letting him go this month.

However, Milan would only be prepared to take the Denmark defender on loan with option to buy, whereas the Blues want an outright sale.

With that in mind, the Sky Sport Italia journalist believes the Diavolo could negotiate a swap deal with Atalanta for Kjaer and Mattia Caldara.

The ex-Roma and Palermo stopper is currently on loan at Atalanta from Sevilla but is set to leave before the end of January as he bids for more first-team football.

Di Marzio concludes there is scope for Milan to take over the Dea’s loan arrangement, while sending Caldara back to Bergamo on the same basis.
