With Dalian Wanda, a Chinese investment company one of the rivals to Bee Taechaubol, there are signs that the Chinese government is partly behind the bid.

Gazzetta reports that Berlusconi is speaking to President Xi through Wang Jianlin, head of Dalian Wanda.

The reasoning given is a report published on the internet in China showing a picture of Jianlin in front of a Milan badge, and stating that the Chinese state was ready to pay €1.1bn for the club.

However, the newspaper reports that government censors later removed the picture and article from the internet for breaching censorship laws.
