Chievo director Giovanni Sartori explains why they sacked Giuseppe Sannino to bring back Eugenio Corini.
The decision was made today, recalling the Coach who had steered the team to safety last season, but could not agree terms to make that caretaker position permanent. However, he has now signed a two-year contract.
“When you change Coach it is a defeat for everyone, because we had really believed in Sannino,” director of sport Sartori told calcionews24.com.
“Unfortunately the results were lacking and the table speaks clearly, as we are bottom with six points. We tried to shake up the side and change the course of the season, so in these cases it’s usually the Coach who pays the price.
“Corini was the only choice after that decision was made. We hope to bring in points straight away. Coaches are judged on their results and Corini did well here last season.
“We expect a strong reaction from every player. The situation is not easy, but we have the quality to achieve our objective.”
