Former Serie A clubs Chievo and Novara are reportedly heading for bankruptcy, as the authorities are set to reject their appeals against exclusion from the leagues.

Chievo failed to register for the Serie B 2021-22 season, while Novara were excluded from the 2021-22 Lega Pro/Serie C division.

All football clubs in Italy must prove their financial stability before they are allowed to register for the new season.

That way, they aim to avoid any clubs going under during the campaign.

According to the latest reports, both Chievo and Novara’s appeals are due to be rejected.

That means the end of the road for the ‘miracle’ of Chievo, who in 30 years under President Luca Campedelli went from Serie C to the top flight, UEFA Cup and even the Champions League preliminary rounds.

If Chievo do not register for the 2021-22 Serie B season, then Cosenza are ready to be promoted in their place, as they were relegated from Serie B last term.
