Chiesa’s knee surgery postponed due to fever

Federico Chiesa’s knee surgery has reportedly been postponed as the Italy and Juventus winger has a fever.

Sky Sport Italia reports Chiesa should have undergone knee surgery in Innsbruck tomorrow.

However, the operation, which professor Christian Fink will perform, has been postponed because the 24-year-old has a fever.

Fink is the same specialist who performed knee surgeries on Giorgio Chiellini and Nicolò Zaniolo in 2019 and 2020.

Sky Sport Italia clarifies Chiesa’s condition has nothing to do with COVID, given that the former Fiorentina starlet had a swab test that came back negative.

Chiesa sustained his injury in an away clash against Roma less than two weeks ago.

He has been ruled out for the remainder of the season and will miss Italy’s World Cup play-offs against North Macedonia and, hopefully, Turkey or Portugal.

Juventus will make his move from Fiorentina permanent in the coming months. The Bianconeri will pay up to €60m to secure the player’s services on a permanent basis.
