Juventus star Federico Chiesa’s knee surgery this afternoon was a success, starting his long road to recovery.

The 24-year-old Italian winger suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture in his left knee half an hour into the Bianconeri’s 4-3 win over Roma earlier this month, ending his season early. The player needed to undergo reconstructive surgery in order to start his recovery process, and this has finally been carried out.

As announced by Juventus, Chiesa underwent reconstructive surgery this afternoon at the Hochrum Clinic in Innsbruck, with the operation being carried out by Professor Christian Fink in the presence of Juventus medical director Doctor Luca Stefanini.

Chiesa is expected to be out of action for around seven months, meaning that he should recover in time for this winter’s World Cup in Qatar, which kicks off on November 21. Italy’s spot at the competition is not confirmed, however, and they’ll need to win against both North Macedonia and the winner of Portugal-Turkey in order to secure their spot.

  1. Forza Fede!

IMO, ridiculous that its taken 14 days since injury date to have it done. Should have been done within the first week.

For Italy, we need others to step up. 3 players especially. Even if we qualify to Qatar he will only have a few weeks of matches under his belt. Probably will be tentative to get into a tackle for about a year afterwards. This is horrible.

  2. @Brandon, in you opinion? Are you a doctor or something? They need to wait until the swelling goes down and then he had COVID. Inform yourself before you comment on things you know nothing about.

  3. Suggest you take your own advice.

He had a fever. Swab for COVID-19 came back Negative.

It was supposed to be last week. And no, I’m not a doctor. Just play one on Football Italia.

Never heard a player have to wait 14 Days to get this surgery done. Should have been Wednesday at the latest. It was likely ligaments as was feared that same day. Right away the wheels should have beem set in motion, MRI on the Monday to confirm what was feared. Surgery on Tuesday or Wednesday.

    14 days? Too long..
