Massimiliano Allegri insists there’s no problem with Federico Chiesa, but the Italian striker was replaced after barely 60 minutes against Frosinone and doesn’t seem to be deployed in his favourite position.

A Dusan Vlahovic brace helped Juventus win their first match in the last five on Sunday, securing a 3-2 win over Frosinone at the Allianz Stadium but not all news was good for the Bianconeri as one of their best players, Federico Chiesa, once again failed to impress.

Allegri screamed at the 26-year-old during the first half and replaced the Italian after barely 60 minutes.

He wanted his star striker to play close to Vlahovic, while Chiesa often moved wide on the left flank.

It’s a recurrent tactical dilemma at Juventus this season. It is widely known that Chiesa prefers playing as a left winger, but Allegri has been using a 3-5-2 system this term and sees the ex-Fiorentina star as a centre-forward.

Chiesa has only scored six goals in 22 appearances across all competitions this season and Liverpool are said to be among the clubs interested in welcoming his services next summer.

As previously reported by Football Italia transfer expert Matteo Moretto, Juventus may sell Chiesa at the end of the season if he refuses to sign a new deal beyond 2025.

In the meantime, fans and pundits are discussing his recent poor performances on social media.

Ex-Juventus and Bologna winger Giancarlo Marocchi, now a Sky Sport Italia pundit, admitted after the Frosinone game that Chiesa’s performance was “undoubtedly negative”, but “We have to understand if it is the coach or player’s fault.”

The ex-winger said Chiesa and Allegri must “find a compromise for Juventus’ good.”

Most fans on social media, especially on X, formerly Twitter, have been blaming Allegri for his use of Chiesa, but there are surely different opinions on the striker’s performances especially considering that Juventus ultras tend to support Allegri during home matches.
