Chiesa makes Liverpool debut

The 26-year-old was brought on in the final minute of Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over Milan in San Siro, replacing Mohamed Salah for the final moments of injury time.

Chiesa has had to wait to make his maiden Liverpool bow, as he has been working on an individualised programme to get back up to full match fitness.

The former Fiorentina winger was told that he was not part of Thiago Motta’s plans while still at Juventus earlier this summer, and spent most of pre-season training individually.

Liverpool set him up on a personalised regime after his Premier League move, which is also why he was not part of Luciano Spalletti’s most recent Italy squad.
