Federico Chiesa has not managed to impress at Juventus in recent months and reports suggest his spot at the Italy squad is at risk ahead of the European Championship.

The 26-year-old Italian winger has struggled to find a rhythm over the course of this season, still struggling with minor injuries and poor fitness. He had a flying start to the season, scoring four goals in the first five games, but he’s fallen quiet since then.

Chiesa has only scored twice across all competitions since late September and was booed by the Juventus fans when he was taken off in the recent 3-2 win over Frosinone. With 18 months left on his contract in Turin, the pressure is continuing to mount on the Italian winger.

Page 13 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Luciano Spalletti is starting to plan out his Italy squad for the coming European Championship, possibly focusing on a 3-4-2-1 formation, and Chiesa is at risk of slipping out of the team due to his continued poor form and fitness.

The 26-year-old winger has three months to convince Spalletti to bring him to Germany in the summer to help defend their title, aiming to turn things around in Turin.

  1. This article is written by someone who does not understand football!! Cheisa is being played out of position by Allegri, hence why he is not effective. Next, he is not a striker but a winger, so dont expect 20 goals. Finally, for italy, he was anazing in the lat few matches, 2 goals in 2 matches (…) his postion is not at risk….
