Federico Chiesa didn’t go on holiday to recover from an injury and admits Cristiano Ronaldo ‘inspired him.’

The Italy international spoke about the last year in an interview with Repubblica newspaper.

Chiesa was part of the Italy team that won Euro 2020 and has become one of the most exciting players in the Old Continent.

He is currently out of action with an injury and hasn’t gone on holiday during the Christmas break to work at the Continassa and recover his best fitness.

“I must recover, I want to be at my best in 2022, so I didn’t go on holiday,” the Bianconeri star said.

Juventus played the last game of the year on December 21 and will return to the pitch on January 6 against Napoli.

Massimiliano Allegri once said Chiesa could become a striker in the future, but for now, the 24-year-old doesn’t think about a new position on the pitch.

“I am a winger, but I always play where the coach wants,” he said.

“As I proved at the Euros or here at Juventus, I am a winger who can play on the left or the right.”

Juventus had a slow start to the season, collecting just one point in the opening three Serie A games.

However, they earned 13 points in the last five league matches and are three points behind a Champions League spot.

Table leaders Inter have a 12-point lead on the Old Lady.

“We should not think about Inter,” said Chiesa. “They are doing something extraordinary. They feel well and have consistency. We must stay there and wait for mistakes from clubs ahead of us. We must only focus on ourselves.”

Chiesa also named Kaka and Alessandro Del Piero as his idols but didn’t forget to mention Cristiano Ronaldo.

“His dedication, his mental strength, his ability to be decisive and present in every situation was an inspiration for me,” the former Fiorentina star admitted.

“Cristiano is coming from a different planet, it was thrilling to train with him and see what he does to be so strong. I was lucky enough to spend some time and watch live one of the best players in the history of football.”

  1. Did not go on a holiday and instead training to get fit!!!

    That’s impressive!!!

You are in the footsteps of Ronaldo..

  2. As regards Roland’s professionallism, I encourage Chiesa to imitate him. But not his egoism.
I admire Roland for his valur, but death for his ambition(Julius Ceasar.
No player is above the team.
