Juventus coach Thiago Motta has not called up star winger Federico Chiesa for tonight’s pre-season friendly with Brest, dropping him from the squad.
The 26-year-old Italian winger has less than a year left on his contract with the Old Lady and isn’t willing to put pen to paper on a new deal, making a departure in the coming weeks extremely likely. He was not part of the squad for their recent trip to Germany, staying in Italy following his wedding.
Earlier in the summer, Chiesa was heavily linked with a move to Roma or Napoli, but both switched focus to other targets. In recent weeks, his agent Fali Ramadani flew to London to hold talks with Chelsea and Tottenham, trying to quickly find a solution for his client.
Chiesa dropped from Juventus squad
Thiago Motta confirmed his 22-man squad for Juventus’ upcoming pre-season friendly with Brest, scheduled for 20.00 UK time at the Stadio Adriatico in Pescara, and fans were quick to notice that Chiesa had been dropped from the team.
The 26-year-old’s position in the Bianconeri squad is clear and is another sign that his time in Turin is quickly coming to an end.
I really don’t understand how Motta decided not to work with one of the best italian players now a day. This only shows Motta’s limits as a coach.
