Federico Chiesa has confirmed that he was not offered a renewal to his Juventus contract this summer, and insists that he never asked for a raise in salary before his move to Liverpool, which was made official on Thursday.

Chiesa has joined Liverpool in a permanent deal, signing a four-year contract until the summer of 2028. Liverpool have paid Juventus a reported fee of €15m.

Chiesa has penned a a farewell message to the Old Lady supporters on Instagram, during which he also took the opportunity to clarify the situation surrounding his previous Juventus contract.

The 26-year-old’s deal in Turin was due to expire at the end of the 2024-25 season. He was told this summer that he would not be part of Thiago Motta’s plans for the upcoming campaign.

That decision led him to train separately for large spells of the summer.

Some supporters, however, thought that the decision to remove Chiesa from the first-team group was because he rejected a contract extension. The player himself has denied that outright.

“I have never received any offer of renewal from Juventus and, additionally, there has never been a request from me or my entourage regarding an increase or a reduction in my salary,” Chiesa wrote on Instagram
