Federico Chiesa is not 100 per cent fit after an issue in the final training session, so he is in doubt to start for Italy against Wales on Sunday.

The closing Group A match kicks off tomorrow at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT) at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Roberto Mancini is planning big changes to the starting XI, as Italy have already qualified for the Round of 16 and need just one point to be guaranteed top spot in the group.

He already confirmed in his press conference that Marco Verratti will start after recovering from a knee injury he sustained with PSG last month, despite the fact he hasn’t even been on the bench against Turkey and Switzerland.

Jorginho is likely to stay in place, with Bryan Cristante coming in to rest Nicolò Barella and Manuel Locatelli.

It had been suggested that Chiesa would start, as he was a substitute in both the opening matches, but Sky Sport Italia report he had a slight fitness issue in the final training session on Saturday.

The Juventus forward is therefore in doubt and could be replaced by his club teammate Federico Bernardeschi.

Lorenzo Insigne is another who could rest, while Andrea Belotti will step in for Ciro Immobile.

In defence, Giorgio Chiellini is injured and Alessandro Florenzi not fully recovered, so there will be changes as Leonardo Spinazzola requires rest.

Rafael Toloi can provide more coverage on the right, with Emerson Palmieri on the left.

Leonardo Bonucci could be rested or be the only remaining member of the old guard in the back four, with Francesco Acerbi and Alessandro Bastoni ready to come in.

Wales have a full squad to choose from and are likely to retain Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey and Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale, with Kieffer Moore their only real centre-forward.

Italy (probable): G Donnarumma; Toloi, Bastoni, Bonucci, Emerson; Cristante, Jorginho, Verratti; Chiesa, Belotti, Insigne

Wales (probable): Ward; C Roberts, Mepham, Rodon, B Davies; Morrell, Allen; James, Ramsey, Bale; Moore
