La Gazzetta dello Sport insists Newcastle are interested in Juventus star Federico Chiesa who would be cheaper than Sandro Tonali.
Tonali will soon finalise a permanent €80m transfer from Milan while, according to Gazzetta, Chiesa can leave Juventus for €60m this summer.
The Italy international has a contract until June 2025, but the Bianconeri will listen to offers for their star. Max Allegri’s mentor Giovanni Galeone said on Wednesday that Chiesa would go in the summer.
Thursday’s printed edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (page 4) says no formal offer has yet been made, but Newcastle have informed Juventus about their interest. The same is true of Liverpool and Aston Villa, who, however, won’t play Champions League football in 2023-24.
As per the report, Chiesa may consider joining Liverpool to work under Jurgen Klopp but is not keen on signing for Aston Villa.
Juventus also failed to qualify for Europe’s elite competition, so they must balance the books by selling some of their big names, including Chiesa.
