Nikola Milenkovic’s header came moments after Fiorini accidentally put another Saponara cross into his own net.
Gaetano Castrovilli stole the show with a spectacular lob into the net, but Saponara showed himself to be far better at setting up goals than finishing off the chances himself.
Chiesa ended up playing more than expected, as Ponsi went off after just three minutes of the second half when falling heavily on to his arm.
He made the most of it, completing his brace after a mazy run and left-foot snooker shot into the bottom corner.
Castrovilli was unlucky to hit the woodwork with a free kick, while Mirko Gori tapped in after a save on Patrick Cutrone and new buy Amrabat converted a late penalty.
Fiorentina debuted under the third kit for the 2020-21 season, red with a white cross.
