Serie A Liveblog: Wk4 including Juventus-Milan

Max Allegri has Chiesa and Bernardeschi back in the squad after they missed the Napoli and Malmo matches through injury.

Mattia De Sciglio also returns to the fold, though Arthur Melo and Kaio Jorge are still sidelined.

They are nonetheless not expected to start this evening, as they are still not 100 per cent fit.

Milan made the trip without six players, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Olivier Giroud, Rade Krunic, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Davide Calabria and Junior Messias.

Goalkeeper Maignan is in the group, but his presence at the Allianz Juventus Stadium remains in doubt.

He sustained a bruise to the left wrist while saving Mohamed Salah’s penalty in the Champions League trip to Liverpool.

If the Frenchman doesn’t make it, then Ciprian Tatarusanu will take over the gloves.

There are also suggestions Fikayo Tomori will be re-routed as a right-back rather than Alessandro Florenzi, who is again not at 100 per cent.

Probable line-ups

Juventus (4-4-2): Szczesny; Danilo, De Ligt, Chiellini, Alex Sandro; Cuadrado, Bentancur, Locatelli, Rabiot; Dybala, Morata

Milan (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Tomori, Kjaer, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Kessié, Tonali; Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz, Leao; Rebic

3 thought on “Chiesa and Maignan doubts to start Juventus vs. Milan”
  1. Tough news. This may be a good opportunity to go with the 3-4-1-2. Have Roma, Kjaer and Tomori across the back left to right, Theo and Alexis as wingbacks, Tonali and Kessie in the middle, Brahim in the hole and Rebic with Pellegri up top. Then later in the match they can revert to 4-2-3-1 by bringing in Leao for whichever of the two strikers is most tired, with Theo dropping back, Tomori kicking out to RB, and Alexis pushing up on the right (maybe subbed for Florenzi or Messias).

  2. Milan are gonna have their pants down tonight.

There is something fundamentally wrong with the training or physical approach with so many injuries – this happened last season too.

Ibra is past playing at this level, but if Milan keep losing so many important players this challenge is over before it’s even begun.

    4-0 Juve.
