Giorgio Chiellini admits he will try to sign Gigio Donnarumma after his retirement: ‘For now, I am just a footballer…’

The Italy and Juventus captain released a long interview with DAZN where he also discussed the PSG star.

Chiellini said Donnarumma is very similar to Juventus legend Gigi Buffon and admitted he could try to sign him for the Bianconeri after the end of his playing career.

“Right now, it’s not up to me,” said Chiellini smiling.

“In a few years, if I will do something different, then yes, I will try. For now, I can’t. Buffon and Donnarumma have different characteristics, but Gigio is not an average goalkeeper.”

More drama for Donnarumma as PSG move turns sour

Donnarumma was in talks with Juventus in the summer, but the Old Lady eventually decided to keep hold of Wojciech Szczesny, so the 22-year-old goalkeeper joined PSG as a free agent after the end of his contract with Milan.

However, Juventus remain interested in signing Donnarumma, especially considering that the Italy international is not a regular starter at the Parc des Princes.

Chiellini’s contract with Juventus expires in June 2023. Last month, Massimiliano Allegri said that the defender would become a ‘great club director’ after his playing career.

7 thought on “Chiellini ‘will try’ to sign Donnarumma for Juventus”
  1. They should have been all over him in the summer. Too late now, unless he’s on loan. Surely someone in England would buy Sczcesny?

  2. If Donnarumma is booed when playing for another club when playing against Milan, it would be understandable but not when he plays for his Country.

  3. Ronaldo was still on the books so didn’t want the extra cost.. missed opportunity.. PSG will want 50m..
