Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini seems set to renew with Juventus for a further year but intends to continue until the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Chiellini is expected at Continassa to discuss a potential renewal with the Old Lady.

Chiellini’s deal expired in June and he has yet to sort out his own future, but returns as a European champion after an impressive summer with the Azzurri.

After lifting the trophy at Wembley in London, Chiellini admitted he targets a place in the squad for the 2022 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place between November and December in Qatar.

The 36-year-old was expected to sign a deal until June 2022, but the newspaper believes he will be asking the club to get at deal until the next major international tournament or immediately sign for another two years.
