It was a harrowing afternoon for Max Allegri’s team at Marassi, with the defending champions going three goals down before late consolation strikes by Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala gave the scoreline a closer look.

Speaking post-match, the veteran defender called on his teammates to start ‘wanting’ to win matches again.

“With all due respect to the other teams, if a team like Juventus really wants to get three points, it’ll get the three points,” Chiellini commented.

“We all have to want it from the first to the 90th minute, those on the field and on the bench.”

The 33-year-old remains convinced of his side’s quality compared to other Serie A teams but believes a poor attitude is currently holding them back.

“On paper, our squad has vastly more quality, strength and depth than most of the other teams.

“It’s in theory difficult for us to drop many points this season and yet we are dropping them left, right and centre.”
