Juventus centre-back Giorgio Chiellini is “proud to be part of this immense team” after their Champions League heartbreak against Real Madrid.
Despite losing the first leg of their quarter-final 3-0, the Bianconeri had fought back to level the tie last night, before Cristiano Ronaldo’s last-minute penalty sent them out.
“Only a fool could think of being able to overturn a 3-0 at the home of Real Madrid and we had that healthy madness inside us,” Chiellini wrote on Instagram.

“We said it, and we showed it on the pitch. I am proud to be part of this immense team, we played a game which will remain in the history of football, and I don’t know how many will succeed in winning this way in Madrid.
“We need to turn this anger and disappointment into positivity for the month-and-a-half we still have remaining, where we still have the Scudetto and Coppa Italia to win.
