Giorgio Chiellini believes Roberto Mancini has brought “a sense of calm, faith and enthusiasm” to Italy ahead of their Euro 2020 match with Finland.
The qualifying campaign opener kicks off in Udine on Saturday at 19.45 GMT.
“There is a great atmosphere, the players get along well, but then that was also true in previous years,” assured the captain in his Press conference.

“There is a great atmosphere, the players get along well, but then that was also true in previous years,” assured the captain in his Press conference.
“Obviously, the magic that is created when a team spends 45-50 days together in a pre-tournament training camp is very different. You suffer and rejoice together, but the ambition of this group is to reach that situation in a year and a half.
“We need the ticket to Euro 2020, a new adventure begins and there will be the kind of sensations then that we cannot experience when having so little time together during the qualifiers.”
Mancini took over several months after Giampiero Ventura’s dismissal and the failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
“There are some new elements and I have always tried to learn from my Coaches and teammates. I’m happy to add Mancini to the list of great tacticians I’ve worked with.
“Mancini brought a sense of calm, faith and enthusiasm. After the problems we went through, we needed these qualities, as it wasn’t easy to get back on our feet after the World Cup disappointment.”
With injuries piling up, it’s reported Chiellini’s Juventus teammate Moise Kean will start in the trident attack against Finland.
“His greatest quality is that he scores goals, while he must also improve on a daily basis and become more consistent. He had the opportunity to leave in January, but I advised him to stay, as it is a long season. Now he’s relishing this current form and I hope it’s only the start for him.”
