Multiple reports in Italy claim Giorgio Chiellini is set to return to the club as a director, but how closely he will work with the first team is still unclear.

According to Italian reports, Juventus and Italy legend Chiellini is expected to return to the club in the coming months.

La Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttosport say the ex-defender is destined to return to the Allianz Stadium after leaving LAFC, but there is still no certainty about his new role there.

Chiellini set for Juventus return, but role still unclear

According to Gazzetta, Chiellini may join Cristiano Giuntoli’s staff and work closely with the first team, linking the players and the club.

Chiellini is on good terms with the next Juventus coach, Thiago Motta, having played with the ex-midfielder with the Italian national team.

As per Tuttosport, however, Chiellini won’t return to Juventus before the summer, and the former defensive star won’t initially take on a first-team role.

The report claims Juventus want to train Chiellini for the role, so in the opening phase, he won’t take a leading role in the club.
