Former Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has reportedly decided to retire and will announce his decision today.

Romeo Agresti reports legendary Juventus defender Chiellini will announce his retirement from football today, Tuesday, December 12.

The 39-year-old spent the last two seasons at LAFC and had recently hinted that he could have retired after the end of the season in the MLS. His LAFC side lost the MLS Cup Final on Saturday night.

Chiellini scored 36 goals in 561 appearances with Juventus, winning nine Serie A titles, five Supercoppa Italiana and five Coppa Italia.

He also reached the Champions League Final twice, in 2015 and 2017.

He captained Italy in the 2020 Euros, won by the Azzurri at Wembley Stadium.

Chiellini could return to Juventus after the end of his playing career. His brother Claudio is already part of the club, working as the Head of Next Gen Area.

The legendary defender has also kept a door open to working in the MLS to contribute to the league’s development.
